Case summary
Cartoonist, author of the series "Masyanya". From the very beginning of the full-scale invasion, he spoke out against the actions of the Russian army, including in the cartoon series. In March 2022, the site mult.ru with issues of "Masyanya" was included in the register of banned materials. Separately, Roskomnadzor blocked the page with the episode "Wakizashi": in this episode, the heroine brings Vladimir Putin a short Japanese sword wakizashi, which was used by samurai for ritual suicide.
In October 2023, it was reported that a criminal case was opened against Kuvaev for public calling for activities directed against the security of the state. In December, the Ministry of Internal Affairs put him on the wanted list. In the same month, the Ministry of Justice added the cartoonist to the list of "foreign agents".
In September 2025, Baza reported that Kuvaev had been prosecuted for evading his duties as a "foreign agent".
