Case summary
A resident of Stavropol (a city and the administrative centre of Stavropol Krai, in southern Russia). According to his father, he held posts in the waste disposal structures of the housing and utilities sector, where he exposed a corruption scheme. A case of bribery mediation was opened against him. According to the father, this is part of the pressure on himself to give up his human rights activities. On 5th April 2024, the court reclassified the charge to attempted mediation and sentenced Legkobitov to seven and a half years in a strict regime colony. On 28th August 2024, the court of appeal reclassified the charge back to mediation and increased the sentence by six months.
