Case summary

An activist from Moscow, he left Russia. In June 2025, he received a summons for interrogation, informing him that he is a suspect in a case of repeated discrediting of the army. It is not known what the criminal case was initiated in connection with. Matveev suggests that it could have been initiated because of "deleted posts on Facebook and a conflict with a neighbour who has been to the Special Military Operation".

In April 2022, Matveev was detained on Red Square with a yellow and blue banner reading "PEACE". He was issued a report on discrediting the army (part 1 of Article 20.3.3 of the Administrative Code), under which he was fined 50,000 rubles.
