Case summary

A political scientist, military analyst, associate of Alexei Navalny, a frequent guest of the "Popular Politics" YouTube channel. In May 2023, he was included in the register of "foreign agents". In September 2024, Matveev was put on the wanted list and arrested in absentia in a case of evading the duties of a "foreign agent".

On 24 February 2026, the court sentenced him in absentia to 400 hours of community service.
