The case was initiated because of comments Parfenov posted on VKontakte in autumn 2024 about the war in Ukraine, in which he condemned the invasion, called Russian soldiers “orcs,” and reflected on the fact that attitudes towards the war are not determined by nationality: — “Orcs call it something else.)” — “Well, that’s exactly where she belongs. Let the orcs die of hunger and cold and kill each other.” — “Ramsi, Tatarstan supports this, just like it supported the constitutional amendments, election participation and other Kremlin whims, but the population, not so much. And it doesn’t depend on nationality. Proportionally, there are just as many Russians as there are Tatars who don’t support it. Interestingly, Tatars are, for various reasons, against all this crap. Mainly, with a sensible understanding of what all this will lead to — these people have kind eyes. There are also nationalists who think it’s not their war at all. But even among those nationalists there are two camps: some are of a liberal persuasion, oriented towards Western values, and others are just Russophobic, Mongoloid, and Islamist. And there are just as many totally out-of-touch, aggressive ‘vatniks’. Whether Russian or Tatar.”
