Case summary
Archbishop of the minority Russian Orthodox Church. In March, he was fined for 40,000 rubles under an administrative article on discrediting the army because of a sermon in which he condemned the war. In autumn, the Holy Protection-Tikhonov Church in Slavyansk-on-Kuban (Krasnodarskii Krai) was searched in order to pressure Pivovarov. Enforcement officers abused his assistant, Hieromonk Iona (Ilya Sigida) and threatened the archbishop. On 8 April 2024, the clergyman was sentenced to a fine of 150,000 rubles.
