The reason for the case was a publication called "The answer to the question that worries everyone today: what is this war?", where Pivovarov criticises the Russian authorities for waging a war against Ukraine. In particular, the archbishop writes about the explosion at the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power plant: "The creators of this supreme evil are completely likened to Satan in spirit."

Full summary
Archbishop of the minority Russian Orthodox Church. In March, he was fined for 40,000 rubles under an administrative article on discrediting the army because of a sermon in which he condemned the war. In autumn, the Holy Protection-Tikhonov Church in Slavyansk-on-Kuban (Krasnodarskii Krai) was searched in order to pressure Pivovarov. Enforcement officers abused his assistant, Hieromonk Iona (Ilya Sigida) and threatened the archbishop. On 8 April 2024, the clergyman was sentenced to a fine of 150,000 rubles.
