Case summary

Platonov, a resident of Moscow, was the General Director of Newlight LLC, a company that, among other things, produced LED lamps (it is unclear whether he still held this position at the time of the proceedings). A criminal case was opened against him on charges of discrediting the Russian Armed Forces (details remain unknown) and incitement to hatred. He had previously been fined under a similar administrative article for anti-Semitic statements. The case was submitted to the court in February 2025. On 8 April 2025, the court sentenced Platonov to a three-year suspended sentence.
