Vladimir Prisich

Volodymyr Prisich is a citizen of Ukraine, a truck driver. On 13 August 2016, he was detained in Sevastopol, where he was delivering cargo. During the search, drugs were found in the vehicle he was travelling in, despite the fact that Prisich had passed customs control before. Prysich was forced to testify that he had been recruited by the GUR of the Ukrainian Defence Ministry for espionage activities. Prysich later reported that he had been tortured. After independent lawyers appeared in the case, he retracted his confession. Then the investigator suggested that he reclassify the charges from the article on sabotage to the article on drug possession. Prisic agreed. On 18 May 2017, he was sentenced to three years in a general regime penal colony.

On 20 June, Vladimir Prisich had a numb part of his head and nosebleed, he lost his consciousness. In the medical unit of the pre-trial detention centre the patient had an outpatient examination, following which, according to relatives, he was "given a rather expensive drug - piracetam - free of charge. This drug normalises blood circulation in the brain vessels. Prisich's relatives fear that he had a microstroke.

On 16 August 2019 Vladimir Prisich was released from prison.
