Case summary
A journalist and a LGBTQ activist. On the 15th of April, 2022, he was included in the registry of "foreign agents". In July 2023, he was included in the Rosfinmonitoring list of extremists and terrorists. In August, it became known what he was place on a wanted list. In August 2024, the court refused to satisfy the request for Shainyan's arrest in absentia. At the same time, it became known that a case of financing extremist activities was opened against him because of donations to the Anti-Corruption Foundation.
On the 4th of September, 2025, the court sentenced Shainyan to five years in a general regime colony in absentia.
