The reason for the criminal case was his comment under the news in the IvanovoNEWS | Bars Telegram channel about the unveiling of memorial plaques on the wall of a local school in honour of graduates who died in Ukraine. Silin wrote: "The names of murderers should not be hung on schools. School directors - fear God. You are more afraid of crazy Putin. You Putin's gang has made you a beggar and obedient bull. If you refuse to hang signs of murderers, you will be removed from the principal's office at most, but your conscience will remain clear and your children will respect you". In May 2022, he was fined 30,000 rubles under an administrative article on discrediting the army (part 1 of article 20.3.3 of the Administrative Code). The reason for the charge was the denunciation of a pensioner - she told the police that Silin wrote "no to war" on the wall of the building. The activist claimed that he had not done it.

Full summary
Businessman from Ivanovo, founder of the George Orwell Library. In the spring of 2022, together with activist Anastasia Rudenko, he distributed more than 600 copies of George Orwell's dystopias 1984 and Animal Farm and Leo Tolstoy's story Khadzhi-Murat about the Caucasian War free of charge to Ivanovo residents.
In December 2022, Silin left Russia for fear of prosecution.
In May 2023, it became known that a case of repeated defamation of the army had been brought against him because of a comment under a post by an Ivanovo Telegram channel about the unveiling of memorial plaques to Russian soldiers who took part in the war in Ukraine. In his comment, Silin wrote: "The names of murderers should not be hung on schools".
In February 2026, a case of justification of terrorism was also brought against him. Its details are unknown.
