Case summary
The chairman of the Ryazan branch of the Yabloko party, a member of the Council of Deputies of the Dubrovichi rural settlement of the Ryazan district, the editor-in-chief of the local media outlet Vid Sboku. On 31 January 2025, he was detained in a case of extortion of 300,000 rubles from the general director of a specialised commercial organisation in the Ryazan region. The Yabloko party called Smirnov's prosecution a revenge for their campaign against the abolition of local self-government in the region. The activist was detained.
