Case summary
Resident of Nizhny Novgorod, schoolboy. In November 2023, an administrative protocol was filed against him under Article 20.3.3 of the Russian Code of Administrative Offences (discrediting the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation) after he appeared in a video discussing the Russian invasion of Ukraine with a friend. The court decision on this case was apparently not issued, and in August 2024 it became known that a criminal case was opened against the young man for dissemination of deliberately false information about the Armed Forces. On 15 August, the young man was given a measure of restriction in the form of a ban on certain activities. On 10 April 2025 Starshinov was sentenced to two and a half years in a general regime penal colony.
