Case summary
Resident of Orel, English teacher. As a child, he left with his parents for the USA, obtained citizenship there, but then returned to Orel. On 6 September 2023, Startsev was searched in Moscow as part of a case involving donations to the Anti-Corruption Foundation. The RT publication claims that at his home they found an American driver's licence and a certificate allegedly from the Golos movement, which was awarded to "Ilya Andreevich Startsev". He was taken to Orel and placed in custody the next day. On 17 April 2024, Startsev was sentenced to a fine of 400 thousand rubles.
