Case summary
An employee of AvtoVAZ. He considers himself to be a citizen of the USSR and denies the existence of the Russian Federation as a state. He was detained at work in February 2023 as part of a case of discrediting the Armed Forces. His defence lawyer signed a non-disclosure agreement. Vashchenok was assigned treatment in a psychiatric hospital. On February 14, 2024, the investigator terminated his case due to the absence of corpus delicti.
On April 12, the Avtozavodsky District Court of Togliatti ordered Vashchenok to undergo a psychiatric in-patient examination. The appeal against this decision was partially satisfied: the court set a 30-day time limit for his in-patient stay. Vashchenok lives with his mother, who has group II disability. The woman suffers from a number of diseases and cannot do without assistance.
