Case summary
He is a businessman, the owner of the company “KrymOpt”, the founder of the Bekir Choban-zade Charitable Foundation for the Promotion of Interethnic Harmony, a public figure and a philanthropist. On the night of 27 April 2018, he was detained in Crimea and taken to Moscow. This was preceded by searches in KrymOpt shops and facilities, as well as at the homes of Veliliaev and his relatives. On 28 April, he was taken to the Lefortovo pre-trial detention centre in Moscow. On 24 April 2019, he was released on personal recognizance. On 19 March 2020, Veliliaev was sentenced to a fine, its amount is unknown.
