Case summary

In the early morning of May 20, 2020, officers of the Investigative Committee broke into Zakruzhny's apartment. They sawed down the door and conducted a search, during which they seized electronic equipment (gadgets), and after that Zakruzhny was taken for interrogation in the case of calls for mass riots and extremist activity. After the interrogation in the Investigative Committee and forensic medical examination, Zakruzhny was released. The lawyer of the Transbaikal Human Rights Center was not allowed to attend the interrogation.

On February 11, 2021 he was given a suspended sentence of two years and three months. On May 27, the appellate court returned the case to the prosecutor's office. On February 3, 2022, after a retrial, he was given a suspended sentence of two years and two months. On March 21, the appellate court reduced the sentence for one month.
