Russian internet provider Miranda-Media, which operates in Crimea and other occupied territories of Ukraine, has started installing payphones in annexed Crimea, according to Krym.Realities.
The first push-button landline phone was installed in Yevpatoria on Teatralnaya Square. The Russia-appointed city administration said the device was placed in the center to "guarantee residents and guests the ability to reach emergency services in any situation." The authorities emphasized that such a phone is especially important during mobile communication disruptions.
Five more payphones have appeared in Dzhankoy on Kutuzova Street, 28; Vostochnaya Street, 20a; Internatsionalnaya Street, 78; Tolstogo Street, 26; and Karla Marksa Street, 15. One device was also installed in Armyansk on Simferopolskaya Street, 7.
Using the payphones, people can call fire services, rescuers, police, ambulances, gas emergency services, and the unified emergency service for free.
