Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) said it detained suspects accused of plotting drone attacks on military airfields in the Amur and Chelyabinsk regions, the Interfax news agency reported, citing the FSB press service. The agency said it seized 24 FPV drones equipped with 'neural-network control modules,' explosives, ground control stations with self-destruct devices, and communications equipment.
According to the FSB, Ukrainian intelligence services, with the involvement of 'Western curators,' planned a series of sabotage and terrorist acts on military infrastructure. The FSB claimed it received 'preemptive information' that FPV drones would be sent to the Bryansk region via drones and aerostats.
The drones were then transported in cars with trailers with false bottoms loaded with household appliances, the agency said. The drones were delivered to the 'Ukrainka' airfield in the Amur region and the 'Shagol' airfield in the Chelyabinsk region, where they were prepared for attack in rented garages.
The FSB said every action was under operational control and documented. The agency did not say how many people were detained; a video released by the FSB shows the arrest of two men.
On July 10, the FSB reported preventing a mass raid of 13 attack drones on the 'Rostov-Central' military airfield, claiming the perpetrator voluntarily surrendered.
