Journalists at Idel.Realities, a project of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, have identified the names of 57,000 military personnel from Russia's Volga region who have been killed in the war in Ukraine. The list covers the Volga Federal District and the Astrakhan region.

The highest number of fatalities comes from Bashkortostan, where the war has claimed the lives of at least 10,403 military personnel from the republic. It is followed by Tatarstan (9,225 names) and Perm Krai (6,058 names).

Idel.Realities maintains its own count of war dead from the Volga region. The list includes only those whose deaths have been confirmed, the outlet said.
