A seventh-grade student attacked a physics teacher at School No. 2 in the Siberian city of Kansk, according to the Krasnoyarsk-based Interregional Center for Children's Rights and the Telegram channel Baza. The girl sprayed pepper spray in the teacher's face and then tried to hit her with a knife. One of the parents present pushed the student out of the classroom, coming to the teacher's aid.
Witnesses told Baza that the girl arrived for the school assembly, spent about two hours at the school, and before the homeroom period went to the bathroom and locked herself inside. Ten minutes later she returned armed and attacked the teachers. Witnesses also claimed the student allegedly tried to throw a bottle with an incendiary mixture — according to local chat groups, she smashed and set fire to the bottle in the hallway. These reports have not been officially confirmed.
The regional Health Ministry said seven people — five children and two adults — were taken to the Kansk Interdistrict Hospital. All received medical care and were sent for outpatient observation. The teacher did not sustain serious injuries.
The festive school assembly was canceled. Investigators are working at the scene; police said they are establishing the circumstances of the incident. The school declined to comment.
Baza reported that the attacker had no serious problems at school — she was only reprimanded for her appearance. According to Mash, inspectors this spring found shortcomings in the school's security measures and psychological-pedagogical support: over the course of a year, the number of students in the "high-risk group" grew from 7 to 17, and inspectors deemed the measures taken insufficient.
