The Rossoshansky District Court of the Voronezh Region ordered the arrest of Eduard Voskanyants and Artyom Simonyan, both residents of Krasnodar, for 14 days. The men filmed the video on the territory of the military cathedral of Prince Alexander Nevsky on Postovaya Street.
The detention followed the publication of the clip in the anti-migrant Telegram channel "Mnogonatsional." The channel's authors called the men "Wahhabis" who "made a provocative video against the backdrop of the temple and insulted all Christians," Mediazona reported, citing a post from the channel. The caption to the video also claimed that there were "simply millions" of such cases and that "Orthodox Christians" do not engage in such actions, Ekho wrote.
Four hours after the publication, the regional branch of the Interior Ministry reported the detention of the men, aged 19 and 23. Police said they were conducting an investigation, TV Rain reported.
During questioning, the detainees said they did not intend to offend believers' feelings. According to them, the video was made for "a beautiful shot." One of the men apologized.
The Investigative Committee and the Interior Ministry also announced they were conducting checks. The court sentenced both men to 14 days in jail.
