Lukoil's Nizhny Novgorod refinery, the company's fourth-largest in Russia and second-largest by gasoline output, halted operations after a nighttime drone attack on facilities in the city of Kstovo, Nizhny Novgorod region. The plant can process about 15 million tons of crude oil per year and produce roughly 5 million tons of gasoline.
According to Reuters, the drone strikes damaged several processing units, inter-shop communications, and plant-wide infrastructure. The agency's sources did not specify how long repairs would take.
The halt leaves only one of Lukoil's major refineries operational — Lukoil-Ukhtaneftepererabotka. The company had already suspended work at its plants in Volgograd and Perm, as well as the Novoshakhtinsky refinery in Rostov region and a facility in Tyumen.
Following the Norsi halt, Lukoil on Wednesday did not offer wholesale batches of gasoline, diesel fuel, or other petroleum products from the plant on the St. Petersburg International Mercantile Exchange. Norsi had previously suspended refining due to drone attacks on April 5, May 20, June 24, and July 2.
