Russian forces struck Odesa with missiles, killing two people and wounding ten, including two children, according to Oleh Kiper, head of the Odesa regional military administration. One of the dead was a woman who was walking with children in a park at the time of the attack, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported.
The attack damaged 11 residential buildings, including a three-story apartment block, and several cars. In the Odesa district, a service station building was destroyed and vehicles caught fire.
Russia launched a Kh-31P anti-radiation missile, seven Kh-59/69 cruise missiles, and 130 drones against Ukraine, the Ukrainian Air Force said. Ukrainian forces shot down five guided missiles and 115 drones.
Russia's Defense Ministry said it struck the Odesa region with “high-precision air-launched weapons and attack drones,” claiming to have hit “port infrastructure facilities, drone production and assembly workshops, and a firefighting boat” in the ports of Odesa and Chornomorsk.
The previous day, July 16, Russian forces also struck Odesa, killing one person and wounding eight, including two children, according to regional and city military administrations. A morning attack hit a gas station and a school roof, causing no casualties.
