Alexei Likhachev, head of Rosatom, said the vessel Yanina sank in the Black Sea following a drone attack, as reported by Kommersant.
According to the state corporation's press service, two Ukrainian drones struck the ship 130 miles from Novorossiysk. The Yanina is owned by transport group FESCO, which is part of Rosatom.
Likhachev called the incident piracy and maritime robbery. He noted that the ship was an ordinary civilian container vessel traveling in international waters and carrying civilian goods—from frozen food to construction and finishing materials.
All 17 crew members were evacuated as the ship began to sink. FESCO's website states that the Yanina joined the company's fleet in September 2021. It is 142 meters long, 22 meters wide, with a deadweight of 13,007 tons.
