Russian forces struck targets in Kyiv and Zaporizhzhia regions, killing at least five people and wounding dozens more, Ukrainian officials and local media reported on August 22.
TV Rain reported that three people were killed and 15 others injured in strikes on Zaporizhzhia region. Ivan Fedorov, head of the regional administration, confirmed the figures.
Earlier, on August 21, a guided aerial bomb hit the village of Kamyshevakha in Zaporizhzhia district, destroying a private home and damaging neighboring buildings. A 46-year-old woman was killed and a 53-year-old man was wounded in that attack, according to Fedorov.
Fedorov also reported strikes on Kushuhum and Balabyne. In Kushuhum, drone attacks injured a 46-year-old woman and two men aged 47 and 59. In Balabyne, an FPV drone struck a car in the yard of a private house, wounding a 59-year-old man.
Russian forces regularly attack Ukrainian cities and civilian infrastructure with drones, missiles, guided bombs and multiple rocket launchers. Ukrainian authorities and international organizations classify these strikes as war crimes and say they are deliberate. They argue that attacks on life-support systems amount to genocidal acts. Russia's leadership denies these accusations.
