The Troitsky District Court of Moscow tightened the pretrial restriction for 27-year-old blogger Diana Shurygina, sending her to a detention center directly from the courtroom, the press service of Moscow courts reported.
Shurygina is charged under Part 3 of Article 242 of the Russian Criminal Code — illegal production and trafficking of pornographic materials by a group of persons. The maximum penalty under this article is up to six years in prison.
Until July 19, she was under house arrest. Investigators petitioned the court to change the measure after discovering that Shurygina had used a mobile phone, which was prohibited. According to the Telegram channels Baza and Shot, she will spend at least the next 11 days in the detention center.
The criminal case against Shurygina was opened in June. According to the investigation, she and accomplices produced pornographic materials and distributed them via Telegram. The newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda claimed that the investigation is linked to content the blogger sold through the platform OnlyFans. Russian tabloids reported that Shurygina created an account there as early as 2021.
Diana Shurygina gained wide fame after participating in the talk show “Let Them Talk” on Channel One in 2017. On air, she said that at age 16 she was raped at a party. Sergei Semyonov, who was accused of the crime, was sentenced to eight years in prison; the term was later reduced and he was released on parole.
