In the early hours of August 15, the Samara region came under a massive missile attack. Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev said an industrial enterprise was hit and announced the formation of an operational headquarters. Samara Mayor Ivan Noskov said the city's industrial infrastructure sustained local damage and that those affected received medical assistance, without disclosing their number or condition.
Ukrainian monitoring Telegram channels claim one of the missiles struck the main workshop of the Progress Rocket Space Centre, which produces Soyuz-family launch vehicles. A fire broke out at the plant. OSINT analysis by the outlet Astra confirmed the burning workshop is located on a site shared by the Progress centre and the Aviakor aircraft plant; based on the footage, it is not yet possible to determine which enterprise the facility belongs to. Telegram channels also reported a possible strike on Aviakor, but this information has not been confirmed.
According to Ukrainian sources, the strike was carried out with Flamingo cruise missiles made by the company Fire Point. The company's chief designer, Denis Shtilerman, published footage of a missile launch and video of the strike's aftermath, but did not directly say they were linked to the attack on Samara.
The same night, explosions were heard in the Nizhny Novgorod region near the Savasleyka airfield. Ukrainian media report that MiG-31K aircraft, carriers of Kinzhal missiles, are based there. This information has not been officially confirmed.
Moscow region Governor Andrei Vorobyov said an attack by eight drones was repelled. In Shatura, a drone hit a private home, injuring a 55-year-old woman and a nine-year-old boy, who is in serious condition.
Sources differ: Ukrainian Telegram channels claim the strike hit the main workshop of the Progress Rocket Space Centre, while Samara region authorities said only that an industrial enterprise was damaged, without specifying the facility; Astra cannot determine which of the two neighboring plants was affected. Data on the use of Flamingo missiles has not been officially confirmed.
