The conviction rests on money transfers to "funds providing support to the Armed Forces of Ukraine," the court's press service said. The case was opened on materials from the Pskov branch of the Federal Security Service (FSB).
The court's statement did not name the convicted man. It said only that he was born in 1999 and lived and worked in Russia. According to Mediazona, the man is Anton Demidenko, 26.
Article 276.1 was added to the Criminal Code in late 2024. It establishes liability for foreign nationals and stateless persons for financial, advisory and other assistance to "a foreign state, international or foreign organization directly opposing Russia in an armed conflict."
The minimum penalty under the article is 10 years in prison. Demidenko was given a term below that threshold. No explanation was provided for the departure from the lower limit.
The court also ordered the confiscation of a phone "used in the commission of the crime" to the state.
His detention became known in July 2025, when the Lefortovsky District Court of Moscow issued the pretrial detention order.
The defendant's full name was not disclosed before the case was transferred to the Pskov Regional Court.
