Moscow region governor Andrei Vorobyov said air defenses shot down or suppressed 187 drones across ten districts overnight, including Domodedovo, Podolsk, Stupino, Ramenskoye and Kolomna, describing it as one of the most massive drone attacks on the region in recent times.
In the Ramenskoye municipal district, a drone fell on the grounds of a private home, killing an 83-year-old man. In Podolsk, three people were injured, and several more in Klimovsk, Vorobyov said.
A drone strike in Podolsk set fire to a Wildberries warehouse in the Kolesino industrial park, one of the company's largest logistics complexes. RWB's press service confirmed the fire, saying employees had been evacuated in advance and none were hurt. Firefighters are using helicopters to battle the blaze, with 56 rescuers and 14 fire engines on site.
In Domodedovo, a warehouse storing medicines caught fire at the Severnoye Domodedovo logistics complex. District head Yevgenia Khrustaleva reported the collapse of a building covering 56,000 square meters, with no casualties. According to Radio Liberty, the warehouse also housed B.I. Logistics, a company that stores nuclear materials and radioactive substances.
Moscow mayor Sergei Sobyanin wrote that 600 drones had been heading toward the capital since the evening of August 15, with 201 destroyed in the Moscow region. Three people were injured near the Moscow Ring Road.
Russia's Defense Ministry said 822 Ukrainian drones were shot down overnight over 16 regions and Crimea, without specifying how many reached their targets. Ukraine's General Staff has not yet commented on the strikes on the Moscow region.
Accounts differ: Vorobyov reported three injured in Podolsk and three more in other districts, while Sobyanin said three were hurt near the Moscow Ring Road. Vorobyov said the Wildberries warehouse caught fire in Podolsk, while the Moscow mayor did not specify the circumstances. Rostov region governor Yuri Slyusar reported five people killed in an attack on his region, a figure the Defense Ministry's summary did not mention.
