Ukrainian monitoring Telegram channels Exilenova+ and Supernova+ reported a drone strike on the Omsk oil refinery. According to them, the attack targeted the ELOW-AVT-11 primary oil refining unit with a capacity of 8.4 million tons per year. This information has not yet been confirmed by independent monitoring projects, but has not been refuted by them either.
Omsk region Governor Vitaly Khotsenko earlier in the day announced a "drone danger" and later wrote that "enemy UAVs" had been shot down over the region. According to him, several drones "managed to reach the northern industrial hub of Omsk." He did not report on the consequences. Russia's Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia) imposed temporary restrictions at Omsk airport.
The Omsk refinery, owned by Gazprom Neft, is Russia's largest in terms of oil refining volume, processing over 21 million tons per year. The facility plays a key role in supplying fuel to Siberia, the Urals, and the Russian Far East. If the strike is confirmed, only the Angarsk Petrochemical Company in Irkutsk region will remain unattacked among Russia's top 10 refineries.
Alexander Kovalenko, an observer for the Information Resistance group, told Novaya Gazeta Europe that a modified FP-1 drone from the company Fire Point, which has a long strike range, was used for the attack on the Omsk refinery. "I won't be surprised if soon attacks at a distance of 2,500–3,000 kilometers deep into Russia become routine," he said.
The attack on the Omsk region is the first since the start of the war, according to a map by Novaya Gazeta Europe tracking all military incidents on Russian territory. As the outlet previously calculated, 39,000 military incidents have occurred on Russian territory and in occupied Crimea since the war began. The number of regions affected by the conflict is growing: in the second half of 2025 there were 57, compared to 48 in the previous half-year and 43 a year earlier.
Prior to this, the farthest Ukrainian drone strike was an attack on a refinery in the Tyumen region on June 20, 2,000 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.
