Ukrainian forces struck the Azov Sea resort village of Kyrylivka overnight on July 25, targeting tourist bases, according to Yevgeny Balitsky, the Moscow-installed governor of occupied parts of Zaporizhzhia Oblast. Rescue operations have concluded, Balitsky said, with 12 dead — four of them children — and 19 wounded, including six children. Two victims, one a child, were pulled from the rubble. Eight people remain unaccounted for.
Russia's Investigative Committee opened a criminal case on terrorism charges and released video from the scene showing destroyed buildings and burned-out cars. July 26 was declared a day of mourning in the region.
The Ukrainian outlet RIA "Pivden" reported that the strikes hit the "Aleon" and "Beluga" recreation centers. According to the outlet, Russian military personnel were present at both bases, though civilians remained in some rooms. Local chat groups reported casualties among service staff and civilians, the outlet said.
Ukrainian authorities and the military did not comment on the strike on Kyrylivka.
