Police in Yekaterinburg detained Konstantin Kiselyov, head of the Yabloko party's faction in the city duma, as he left his home on his way to a debate at VGTRK-Ural, the party's Sverdlovsk regional branch said in a statement.
Kiselyov was taken to police department No. 5 in the Leninsky district. Yabloko said it believes he is being charged with an administrative offense under the article on displaying symbols of extremist organizations. The maximum penalty under this article is 15 days of arrest, as 66.RU notes.
Kiselyov is running for the State Duma in the single-mandate district No. 169, which covers central Yekaterinburg.
In August, the Supreme Court removed Yabloko's federal list from the State Duma election. The reason was a lawsuit by the Rodina party, which accused Yabloko of copyright violations and illegal payments for campaign materials. The Sverdlovsk Regional Court also removed the party's regional list from the Legislative Assembly election following a lawsuit by the local branch of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR).
