Visitors opening the Yandex Metrica dashboard on October 13 were met with a placeholder reading "Work with analytics will continue" instead of traffic reports. Yandex Webmaster, the tool site owners use to monitor indexing, crawl errors and search visibility, displayed a similar message: "So we can care for the site again." Screenshots of both pages were obtained by FACTUM.
The outages follow a series of drone attacks on Yandex infrastructure. The company has officially confirmed damage to three data centers in different regions of Russia. Some services are already being restored, but as of October 13 no timeframe had been announced for the full return of Metrica and Webmaster.
Overnight on October 7-8, drones severely damaged Yandex's data center in Sasovo, Ryazan Region. According to the company, its operations were halted entirely. On the morning of October 9, a facility in Kaluga was attacked, knocking out part of its infrastructure. On October 11, Yandex updated its statement: another data center, in Vladimir, was attacked overnight into Sunday. Its operations were also stopped. Yandex said no employees at the three sites were injured.
The company acknowledges that assessing the condition of equipment and carrying out repairs is difficult. Yandex has not named a date by which the infrastructure will be fully operational. Its statements do not indicate that all of its data centers stopped working; the damage concerns three sites.
Metrica's usual analytics interface is unavailable: traffic volumes, sources, visitor behavior and other reports cannot be viewed in the normal way. Webmaster, used to monitor page indexing, crawl errors and search visibility, is also showing a technical placeholder.
In its Webmaster help section, Yandex warns that the infrastructure damage has also affected its support service. For inquiries, the company directs users to the email address webmaster@support.yandex.ru, but warns of possible delays in response.
An important distinction: the lack of access to a personal dashboard does not yet prove that statistics collection has stopped or that historical data has been lost. The counter on a site, event reception, data processing and the report-viewing interface are separate elements of the system. There is also no public confirmation that the entire flow of Metrica data during the outage has been preserved without gaps.
The problem may extend beyond the two administrative interfaces. The outlet IT-World reported on October 13 that after October 8, automated traffic from Yandex's network, observed through Cloudflare Radar, fell by more than 90%. On IT-World's own site, the number of YandexBot requests dropped by more than 99%.
According to the outlet's observations, by October 13 the bot's requests had begun to recover but remained noticeably below previous levels. These are data on site-crawling activity, not a direct measurement of the number of indexed pages across Yandex's entire search engine.
The main search engine continues to operate. However, a decline in search robot visits can delay the discovery of new publications and updates to existing pages. There is no confirmed data yet on the scale of such delays in search results.
On October 13, the Yandex Advertising team reported a gradual restoration of access to business tools. According to the company, the Yandex Advertising Network partner dashboard, the core functionality of Adfox and the dashboard for advertising agencies are available again. Full restoration of these services is still under way.
In Yandex Direct, active campaigns continue to run, but access to ad management and reporting remains limited. The restoration of some tools does not mean that Metrica and Webmaster have come back online at the same time.
On October 13, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Yandex's problems are being discussed at government level. As Reuters reported, Peskov considered it premature to assess users' financial losses from the disruptions. Asked about possible compensation, he said the company is taking urgent measures to deal with the aftermath of the attacks.
For site owners, the main unresolved questions now are when access to analytics and search diagnostics will return, whether statistics for the days of the outage will be complete, and how quickly the usual intensity of YandexBot crawling will recover. As of October 13, Yandex had given no public answer to any of these questions.
