Case summary
A resident of Partizansk (Primorsky Krai). In April 2019, he was placed under house arrest on charges of organising activities of an extremist organisation due to his involvement in the activities of the Jehovah's Witnesses community. Representatives of this community are prosecuted under extremist articles solely because of religious activities - holding meetings and worship services, engaging new supporters. In November 2020, the court returned the case to the prosecutor's office. Later, the court of cassation cancelled this decision. On June 6th 2023, the court reclassified the charge from organisation to participation and terminated the prosecution of I. due to his voluntary cessation of participation in the activities of the organisation.
