Case summary

On October 12th, 2023, searches took place at Alsynov's home in the village of Yuldybaevo and at his parents' home in Ufa. Alsynov was informed that he was a suspect in a case of incitement to hatred. He was released on his own recognisance. Later, Alsynov said on his Telegram channel that his relatives, as well as people who had reposted his publications on VKontakte concerning the details of the case, started receiving threats from specially created accounts. Alsynov had earlier published a letter from the administration of Bashkortostan's head Radiy Khabirov to the Investigative Committee, as well as an earlier letter from Khabirov to the republic's prosecutor; from these letters, he believes, it follows that the case was ordered. Those who made reposts were threatened with criminal prosecution under articles on the dissemination of "fakes" that caused serious consequences (Article 207.2 of the Criminal Code), military "fakes" (Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code), slander (Article 128.1 of the Criminal Code), repeated discrediting of the army (Article 280.3 of the Criminal Code), propaganda or demonstration of prohibited paraphernalia (Article 282.4 of the Criminal Code), and the use of minors for the production of pornographic materials (Article 242.2 of the Criminal Code). On January 17th, 2024, he was sentenced to four years in a general regime colony.
