According to the investigation, from 21 June to 26 July 2021, Ivashev posted information "aimed at inciting hatred, hostility, as well as humiliation of the dignity of a person or a group of persons on the grounds of nationality" on the Internet. The investigation also claims that in August 2021, Ivashev published "an obscene and insulting post with a negative assessment of a judge" on social media, and in 2020 he called for the killing of Komi head Vladimir Uiba and local MP Oleg Mikhailov, as well as all representatives of such a "social group" as "the administrator of the Opera and Ballet Theatre".

Full summary
On 1 December 2021, Ivashev's home was searched and he was detained. On 4 December, the court selected a measure of restriction in the form of a ban on certain actions. In March 2022, he was sent into custody after he came to the Investigative Committee to request permission to travel to Kirov for a scheduled surgery. Ivashev subsequently won a lawsuit against the Department of the Federal Penitentiary Service for failing to provide medical care. He was kept in the pre-trial detention centre in unsanitary conditions, which negatively affected his health condition. In December, the human rights defender was transferred to house arrest. On 24 May 2023, the court sentenced Ivashev to six years in a general regime penal colony.
