Case summary

The reason for the prosecution was that in the summer of 2013, Ashurkov contributed money to Alexei Navalny's election fund and then offset the amount by collecting donations on his Yandex wallet; in May 2014, the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case for alleged fraud with this money; Ashurkov left Russia and was put on a federal wanted list on 30 July, after which he sought political asylum in the UK; political asylum was granted on 31 March 2015
