Case summary

Nikolay is an ecologist, former expert of Alexei Navalny's Anti-Corruption Foundation, creator of the Clean Air project and host of the YouTube channel Navalny LIVE. He participated in the 2016 State Duma elections.

The reason for the prosecution was that in the summer of 2013 Lyaskin contributed money to Navalny's election fund and then offset the amount by collecting donations on his Yandex wallet. In May 2014, the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case on alleged fraud with this money. The flat where Lyaskin was registered was searched. On 11 June 2014, the day of the official announcement of elections to the Moscow City Duma, where Lyaskin was going to run for office, he was summoned for questioning and signed a personal recognizance. The further fate of the case is unknown.

On 30 January 2021, he was detained in a criminal case for violation of sanitary and epidemiological rules. On 1 February, the court chose Lyaskin a prohibition of certain actions as a measure of restraint. Later, he was charged with incitement to violate the rules. On 6 August, he was sentenced to a year of restricted freedom. On 23 September, the appellate court reduced the term by two months.
