Case summary

Resident of Astrakhan. On May 13, 2011, he was detained on charges of organising activities of an extremist organisation due to his involvement in the activities of the Islamic movement Tablighi Jamaat. Its adherents are persecuted solely because of their religious activities. Presumably, on May 15, Avdonin was released on his own recognisance. He was also accused of possession of weapons: during the search a grenade was found in his possession - Avdonin claimed that it had been planted. After the case went to court, Avdonin was put on the wanted list. According to researcher Ilyas Kurmanbek, in 2016, the media reported that there were photos and videos of him taken in Syria.
