- Article 280.3 part 1, Russian Criminal Code — Discrediting the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, government agencies, or mercenaries
Full wording of the charges
According to the operational footage, the reason for the prosecution could have been Aitashev's messages in the telegram chat room "Gornyi Altai. Discussion", where the journalist corresponded with a participant of the war in Ukraine. Earlier he was fined twice under the administrative article on discrediting the Russian army (Article 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offences) and issued an official warning of possible criminal prosecution (under Article 280.3 of the Criminal Code) in case of a third offence. The reason for the first fine was a repost of a March 2022 address by American film actor and politician Arnold Schwarzenegger on the war in Ukraine. The second time Aitashev was fined because of a repost from the channel of historian Kamil Galeyev about the consequences of mobilisation for Russians.
