In 2014, literature recognised as extremist was seized from the Ramazan mosque. Mufti Ravil Mamleyev was fined under Article 20.29 of the Code of Administrative Offences (distribution of extremist materials), and Bayazitov was issued a warning against violating the law. On 10 October 2016, Bayazitov was sentenced to 360 hours of compulsory labour with deprivation of the right to preach for three years in a case of incitement to hatred.
