Case summary
Igor was subjected to administrative detention on 31 October 2010 during a rally in St. Petersburg at Gostiny Dvor as part of the "Strategy-31" campaign for freedom of assembly; on 1 November Boykov's home is searched; on 9 November Boykov is charged under part 2 of article 282.2 of the Criminal Code (participation in the activities of an extremist organisation); on 17 June 2011, the police tried to disrupt the presentation of Boykov's book "Life Lived Not in Vain", which was to be held at the Russian National Library; the event managed to take place, but on the way out of the library about 20 people (supporters of the "Other Russia" and writers who came to the presentation), as well as Boikov himself, were detained by the police; later, copies of his book handed over by Boikov during the presentation were seized from the fund of the Russian National Library, which was claimed by the police to be (literally) "extremist literature by an extremist author"; the investigation included the fact of the presentation books as one of the episodes in the criminal case, arguing that it was a political action of the National Bolshevik Party, and not a literary event; On November 2, 2012, during the trial, the lawyer filed a motion to terminate the criminal prosecution, since the statute of limitations on the case had expired – the last episode attributed to him dates back to October 31, 2010; on November 6, 2012, the petition was granted) .
