Anastasia Burakova

Lawyer, founder of the Kovcheg project to help Russian emigrants. In December 2023, she was included in the register of "foreign agents". A case of "fakes" about the Russian Armed Forces was brought against her because of a video from her speech at a rally in Tbilisi on 24 February 2023, where she talks about shelling of Ukrainian cities and deaths of civilians in Ukraine. On 11 March 2025, the case went to court.

According to Burakova, the hate motive in the case was explained through a 2019 video in which she comments on the election campaign for the Moscow City Duma, in which many independent candidates were excluded from the election. The expert examination revealed Burakova's "statements containing a negative assessment of groups of persons on the grounds of professional affiliation: employees of election commissions participating in the elections to the Moscow City Duma, as well as employees, officials of the Moscow City Hall" through "a statement about the lack of votes of real people given in favour of the above officials". In March 2025, the case went to court. In May, she was sentenced in absentia to 7.5 years with a three-year ban on website administration.

In February 2026, Burakova was arrested in absentia in a case of evasion of her duties as a "foreign agent". On 17 April 2026, she was sentenced in absentia in this case to one year, taking into account the previous sentence - to eight years and two months in prison.
