Case summary
Resident of Kromsky district, Orel region, student of Orel State University. In July 2025, the Investigative Committee reported his detention in the case of spreading military "fakes", justification of terrorism and rehabilitation of Nazism. On 8 July, Akbulatov was placed in custody: one of the justifications was the purchase of a ticket from Moscow to Kazan, where he is from. The reason for the prosecution was his publications in a certain Telegram channel. The charge under the article on "fakes" is related to his posts on May and August 2023 about the war in Ukraine, and the charge of rehabilitation of Nazism is related to his negative assessment of the Victory Day celebrations and posts "humiliating the honour and dignity of veterans of the Great Patriotic War". Details of the charges under the article on the justification of terrorism are unknown. All the imputed posts were published in the group "Sitting around the campfire" in Telegram. The charge of spreading "fakes" was toughened by adding a hate motive.
When Akbulatov was already in custody, he was twice fined 10,000 rubles under the administrative article on incitement to hatred (Article 20.3.1 of the Code of Administrative Offences) because of comments in the same group: in the first case they were comments about Ossetians and Russians, in the second case - about Russians, Tatars and Bashkirs. He said in court that he posted the comments with the purpose of trolling.
On 12 February 2026, Akbulatov was sentenced to seven years in a general regime penal colony.
