Writer, publicist. In July 2022, he was included in the register of "foreign agents". In April 2025, the Investigative Committee reported that a case was opened against Bykov for dissemination of deliberately false information about the RF Armed Forces and evasion of duties as a "foreign agent".

On 1 October 2025, the court sentenced him in absentia to seven years in a general regime colony and a fine of 300 thousand rubles.
