Case summary
Labourer from Rubtsovsk (Altai Krai). Led a local religious organisation of Jehovah's Witnesses until they were banned by the Supreme Court. In May 2021, a search was conducted with the participation of FSB officers. Initially a case of participation in the activities of an extremist organisation was initiated, later the charge was reclassified to organising such activities due to involvement in the community. Representatives of this community are prosecuted under extremist articles solely for religious activities: meetings, joint worship services, attracting new supporters.
Danielyan spent almost a year and a half under a recognisance not to leave the country. On 7 November 2022, he was sentenced to six years in a general regime colony.
