Case summary

A resident of St. Petersburg who worked in the IT sector was detained on 24 January 2021 and taken into custody the next day on charges of using violence against two traffic police officers during a rally in support of Alexei Navalny on 23 January. Initially, Deviaty was charged with using non-dangerous violence against public officials, but the charge was later escalated to dangerous violence. Deviaty reported bribery within the pre-trial detention center, after which he was no longer brought to court for hearings.
