According to the Verstka publication, the reason for the prosecution was a post on Jamalov's Facebook page with a picture of a document that Deputy Finance Minister Iryna Okladnikova allegedly sent to Deputy Prime Minister Dmytro Grigorenko. It said that 48,759 Russian militaries had died in the war in Ukraine by mid-August 2022. He also wrote in the post: "8132 is the average number of deaths per month since the beginning of the SVO... money loves to be counted."
