Konstantin Efremov

Commander of a unit of the 42nd Motorised Rifle Division of the Russian Armed Forces, lived in Vladikavkaz, served in Chechnya. Participated in the invasion of Ukraine on 24 February 2022. In May, he left the front and wrote an application for dismissal from the Russian Armed Forces. In October, after mobilisation began, he left Russia. In February 2023, he gave an interview to the Gulagu.net project, in which he spoke about the torture of prisoners of war and Ukrainian civilians. In March, an FSB officer came to his home. In May 2023, Efremov was fined in absentia under an administrative article on discrediting the Russian Armed Forces (Article 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offences). In October 2025, a court in Moscow took him into custody in absentia on the case of disseminating deliberately false information about the Russian Armed Forces. The reason for the case was Efremov's interview with journalist Farida Kurbangaleeva about the torture of Ukrainians by the Russian military and looting. On 20 February 2026, he was sentenced in absentia to seven years' imprisonment.
