According to the investigation team, being "an opponent of the special military operation", he tried to enter Ukraine several times. In September 2023, he flew from Armenia to Moldova and tried to cross into Ukraine, but local border guards turned him back. In early May of 2024, he tried to enter the Ukrainian embassy in Istanbul, but he was not allowed in by the guards. He contacted the Ukrainian embassy in Tashkent. Then he received instructions from recruiters, flew to Kaliningrad in July 2024, from where he was going to illegally cross the border with Poland and then get to Ukraine, but was detained.

He was accused of attempted participation in the activities of a terrorist organisation: according to the investigation team, he intended to illegally cross the border with Poland, and from there to get to Ukraine and join the Legion of Freedom of Russia.
